12-second example rendered by this skill from examples/asterion · 1280×720
What you get
- A self-contained index.html hero and an embed.html to paste into an existing site
- An engraved star chart with up to six constellations you name, drawn one after another
- Twinkling seeded stars, a Milky Way, a turning coordinate grid, an ecliptic, a rim title and a meteor
- 18 documented settings: loop length, constellations, star count, twinkle, Milky Way, grid and its turn, ecliptic, rim figures, title, colors and size
- Left, right or centered layouts, with the chart above the copy on phones
- A seamless loop of 8 to 20 seconds, and an SVG still of the same sky for reduced motion
- Contrast and layout checks at 390, 768, 1024 and 1440 px
- A frame-perfect MP4 (1080p by default, portrait sizes too) and a poster, the same on any machine
- Open-source licenses for every part it builds on
Good fit
- Research tools and data products can name constellations after their clusters or topics, drawn one by one in thin lines beside the headline.
- Astronomy schools, evening courses and science clubs can choose a sepia chart on parchment with an oxide red accent, like a printed atlas plate.
- Brands with a quiet, literary voice can set the constellation names in a serif display face for an engraved look, then record a seamless video loop.
Not for
- Real sky maps: the stars and constellations are generated, not real positions
- Interactive star charts people can pan, zoom or search
- Full landing pages below the hero (see the Landing Pages series)
About this skill
A hero section with an engraved star chart beside the headline: a round night sky in a graduated rim with the hours around it, circles of declination, a dashed ecliptic, a soft Milky Way and a field of twinkling stars. The coordinate grid turns slowly while your own named constellations draw themselves one by one, in thin lines with their names in spaced serif capitals. Then a meteor crosses and they fade to start again. Navy and gold, or sepia on parchment. Your agent puts in your colors, fonts, logo, headline and buttons, checks contrast at four widths and records a smooth 1080p video of it.
Example request
Build a Constellation Map hero for Asterion, our research-mapping tool for ML teams: navy sky, gold constellations named after research clusters like 'The Retriever' and 'The Long Context', hours on the rim, headline 'Find the shape in ten thousand papers.', and record a 12-second loop.
How it works
Your agent
- 1
Collect the brand
Every claim, price and date in the copy must come from the person.
- 2
Write hero.json
Copy the closer example and replace everything:
examples/asterion/hero.json(an AI research-mapping tool, navy and gold, five constellations named after research clusters, the hours on the rim, copy on the left) orexamples/smallhours/hero.json(an evening astronomy school, parchment and oxide red, four folk constellations, degrees on the rim, copy on the right). - 3
Build
It lists every problem in
hero.jsonat once (missing fields, text over its limit, a setting out of range, colours that don't contrast) and writes nothing until they're fixed. - 4
Check
It loads the page at 390, 768, 1024 and 1440 px and must say
okat each: nothing wider than the screen or cut off, readable contrast for every line of text, names on every link and button, one h1. - 5
Look at it
They save
out/still-1440x900.pngandout/still-390x844.png, the chart at 8.6 seconds with every constellation drawn. - 6
Record the video
It steps the hero through 12 seconds at 30 fps at 1920×1080, drawing each frame at exactly its time, and writes
out/preview.mp4(H.264, for X, LinkedIn, Product Hunt or a README) andout/poster.png(the frame at 8.6 s). - 7
Put it live
As a page: upload
out/index.htmlandout/assets/to any static host (Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, Vercel, GitHub Pages, S3).

What you need
- Node.js 18 or newer. Nothing to install.
- Chrome, Chromium or Edge, for the checks and the recording (the scripts find it; set
CHROME_PATHif they don't). - ffmpeg, for the video (
brew install ffmpeg, winget install ffmpeg, apt install ffmpeg; or setFFMPEG_PATH). - At runtime, nothing but a 2D canvas. Fonts load from jsDelivr (the pinned list) or Google Fonts; without the network the page uses system fonts.

Write a reviewFAQ
Are the stars and constellations real?
No. The star field, the Milky Way and the shapes of the constellations come from a seed from 1 to 9999, not from real sky positions, so each seed gives a different sky. Only the names are yours, and it is not a sky map for stargazing.
How many constellations can I name, and how long can names be?
One to six, drawn in the order you give. Each name can be up to 22 characters and is set in capitals, though up to about 16 sits best, and each has 3 to 8 stars (default 5). Four or five read best; if two names overlap, shorten one or try another seed.
Which font gives the engraved atlas look?
The hours and constellation names use the display font, so a serif such as Cormorant, Libre Caslon Display or EB Garamond gives the engraved look. Those load unpinned from Google Fonts; pinned choices include Fraunces, Newsreader, Playfair Display and Instrument Serif. Without a network the page uses system fonts.
Which agents is Constellation Map Hero written for?
Any agent that reads SKILL.md folders, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and OpenCode.
Do I own what I make with it?
Yes. Everything your agent makes with this skill is yours, including for client and commercial work.
