Owl Line's split-flap board: night departures

What is on the page

Owl Line runs overnight sleeper trains, and its page opens on the badge “14 overnight routes from Vienna” above the headline “Board at ten. Wake up somewhere else.” The lede says Owl Line runs sleeper trains from Vienna Hauptbahnhof to fourteen cities, with private cabins, real beds and breakfast an hour before you pull in. The buttons are “Find your train” and “See the cabins”, followed by the note “Cabins from €89 a night. Bikes ride free.” The bar holds Routes, Cabins, Fares and Help, and the button “Book a cabin”.

The board is labelled “Night departures”. Its column headings are “Departs · Destination · Train · Track · Remarks”, its banner reads “Night trains” and then “Sleep on it”, and its clock is set to 21:58. Page one lists six departures, each with a time, a destination, a train code, a track and a status: 22:04 “Venezia S.L.” (OL 401, track 7, Boarding), 22:19 “Ljubljana” (OL 233, track 3, On time), 22:47 “Budapest K.” (OL 118, track 5, On time), 23:12 “Paris Est” (OL 650, track 2, On time), 23:36 “Zurich HB” (OL 772, track 9, +10 min) and 23:44 “Praha hl.n.” (OL 286, track 6, On time).

The second list, set under next, also has six rows: 23:52 “Roma Termini”, 00:15 “Amsterdam C.”, 00:31 “Krakow Gl.”, 00:48 “Hamburg Hbf”, 01:05 “Split” and 01:22 “Berlin Hbf”. The blink word is “Boarding”, and the skill’s SKILL.md says a lamp blinks beside every row with that status, which here means “Venezia S.L.” on the first list and “Amsterdam C.” on the second.

Compared with Saltmarsh Weekender

Saltmarsh Weekender, the other hero from this skill, uses the same kind of board for a festival. Owl Line’s page is dark, with a ground of #0b0d12 and an amber accent, #ffb000, and its copy is aligned left; Saltmarsh’s is light, with a ground of #efe7d6 and an accent of #c8431b, and its copy is aligned right. Owl’s rows carry a train code and Saltmarsh’s carry none. Owl has six rows on each list and Saltmarsh has five. Owl’s banner words are “Night trains” and “Sleep on it”, Saltmarsh’s are “Saturday” and “Sunday”, and the blink word is “Boarding” here and “On now” there. The seed is 5 against 19, the sheen 0.5 against 0.35, and the type is Barlow Condensed and Barlow against Antonio and Sofia Sans.

What the settings fix

Everything on the board is a field in hero.json: the label, the five column headings, the two banner words, the clock, the two lists of rows and the colours of the housing (#15171c), the flaps (#1b1c21) and the glyphs (#f3efe4). The skill’s SKILL.md says the board starts blank and flips in, then flips to the second list and back, and that cycle is the seconds per loop, set to 12 here. The seed, 5 here, only varies when each flap starts to turn.
