The short answer
- Install one of the Lookbk deck skills with one command, start a new Claude Code session, and ask for a deck from your notes. Claude writes the slides into the skill’s fixed layouts, then builds an editable PowerPoint file with speaker notes, a PDF and a browser deck, and checks every slide against its layout before handoff. Swiss Grid Deck is free.
- To edit a PowerPoint file you already have, use Anthropic’s own pptx skill instead; the Lookbk skills build new decks.
Claude can already write a PowerPoint file. What it can’t do on its own is make one look designed every time: the layout, type and colors change from run to run, and nothing checks whether a headline runs off the slide. A deck skill fixes that. The design lives in a template, Claude fills it with your words, and a script checks the result before you open it.
Install the PPTX skill in Claude Code
Step 1: Run the installer
Paste this into Claude Code, or run it in a terminal. It writes the skill to
~/.claude/skills/swiss-grid-deck.TerminalStep 2: Add the PowerPoint library
The PPTX export uses PptxGenJS. Install it in the folder you work in; the browser deck and the PDF need only Node.js and Chrome.
TerminalStep 3: Start a new session and ask
Claude Code loads skills when a session starts. Then ask in plain words.
Prompt
The installer and the folder layout are the same for every Lookbk skill. Install a skill in Claude Code covers sign-in, updates and where the files go.
Claude Code slides in six designs
Each deck skill is one finished look with its own set of layouts, so Claude picks a layout for each slide instead of inventing one. All six build the same three files: index.html that presents in the browser, a PDF, and a PPTX with editable text and your speaker notes.
Lookbk deck skills vs a plain PPTX skill
Anthropic publishes a pptx skill in its anthropics/skills repository; it is one of the document skills behind Claude’s file creation. It covers any task with a .pptx in it: creating a deck with PptxGenJS, editing an existing deck or template by changing its XML, and reading the text out of one. The repository marks it source-available rather than open source.
Use Anthropic’s pptx skill when…
- You need to edit, merge or split a PowerPoint file you already have.
- You must build on your company’s own .potx template.
- You want to read or summarize what is in a deck.
Use a Lookbk deck skill when…
- You want a new deck that looks designed, the same way every time.
- You also want a browser deck to present from and a PDF to send.
- You want every slide checked against its layout before you open it.
The two don’t clash. A skill loads when your request matches its description, so ask for “a Swiss Grid deck” or “an Investor Memo deck” by name when both are installed.
Use it from ChatGPT, Codex or Cursor
The same skill folders work in other agents that read SKILL.md and can run Node.js and Chrome, such as Codex and Cursor; the installer puts them in ~/.agents/skills/ for those. Install a skill in any agent lists each agent’s folder. ChatGPT in the browser can’t run the scripts, so it can draft your notes, but the deck itself needs an agent on your machine.
Common questions
- Can Claude make a PowerPoint file?
- Yes. With a deck skill installed, Claude Code writes the slides from your notes and builds a .pptx with editable text boxes and speaker notes, beside a PDF and a browser deck.
- Are the slides editable in PowerPoint?
- Yes. Headings, numbers, labels and paragraphs are real text boxes, and your notes are speaker notes. In Glass Keynote Deck the glass and glow behind each slide is one picture, with the text editable on top.
- Do the animations survive in PowerPoint?
- No. Glass Keynote Deck animates in the browser deck only; the PDF and the PowerPoint file keep each slide’s finished frame.
- Is there a free Claude PowerPoint skill?
- Swiss Grid Deck is free and builds all three files. The other five deck skills are Pro.
