Relay's 9-scene launch film at 96 BPM

This 65-second clip is a launch film for Relay with 9 scenes, cut to 96 BPM. The Launch Film: Porcelain skill rendered it from examples/relay-beta/brief.json in its package. Every field of that file is listed below.

The brand and web addresses in this example are made up. The .example ending is a reserved name that never leads to a real site.

What happens in this clip

Relay is a shared inbox for support teams, and this film opens on its title scene: the small word “Introducing”, the name “Relay” and the line “The shared inbox for teams who answer customers”, with a logo. A problem scene follows. Its two lines are “Customers write in everywhere.” and “The answers live in twelve tabs.”, and eight chips pile in, among them “Re: Re: Re: refund?”, “Ticket 4821 reopened” and “SSO broken again”.

Five product scenes come next, each with its own kicker, title and callout. Inbox is “Every channel, one inbox”, with the callout “Longest wait on top”. Drafts is “Replies drafted from your docs”; it starts on the inbox screen and moves to a drafted-thread screen, with the callout “Cites your help center”. Assign is “Hand it off without the back-and-forth”, with the callout “Fewest open: Lucía”.

Insights, “See what slows the team down”, is centred, has no body line, and calls out “First reply: 14 min”. Mobile, “Answer from anywhere”, sits in a phone frame on the left with the callout “Reply in two taps”. A features scene lists six items, from “Search everything” to “Weekly reports”, and the film ends on “Now in public beta” and “Free for teams of up to five people.” above a relay.example button.

Compared with Cadence

Cadence, the other film from this skill, is built differently. Relay is set to tempo 96 and Cadence to tempo 100. Relay’s brief gives a ground of #e7eaee with a blue accent, #4c6fff; Cadence’s gives #eceae5 with a green accent, #2f7d5b. Relay has five product scenes (inbox, drafts, assign, insights, mobile) and Cadence has four (find a time, booking pages, mobile, focus time). Relay’s problem scene sets no bars, while Cadence’s sets four. Relay puts its phone frame on the left and Cadence on the right. The end cards differ too: a public beta here, version 1.0 free until March there.

How the film is built

In order, the film is a title scene, a problem scene, five product scenes that each carry a callout, a six-item features scene and an end card with a web address. All of that is set in the brief, so changing the product name, scenes, callouts and colours in it changes the film.
