What you get
- A one-file hero page plus a paste-in embed for an existing site
- A cloth that dents under the pointer and can be grabbed and pulled anywhere, by mouse or finger
- Your print on the cloth: name, small line, big words, up to 6 specs, a small chart and a web address, in your fonts
- A midday or dusk sky with drifting clouds, 2 to 6 wooden pegs and your line and cloth colors
- 27 documented settings, from breeze and dent depth to cloth shape and cloud cover
- A frame-perfect 1080p MP4 and poster in which a drawn pointer pulls the cloth (portrait sizes too)
- An SVG still when WebGL or the CDN fails, and a still frame for reduced motion
- Contrast and layout checks at 390, 768, 1024 and 1440 px
- Open-source licenses for every part it builds on
Good fit
- Product launches that want visitors to play with the first screen can print the release name, big words and specs on a cloth people pull around.
- Linen, laundry, outdoor and travel brands can hang their own poster on a line under a midday or dusk sky that matches the product.
- Social teams get a 1080p video in which a drawn pointer pulls the cloth and lets go, recorded frame by frame so it looks the same on any machine.
Not for
- Printing a photo or your own artwork on the cloth (the print is drawn from your words)
- Real fabric behavior like tearing or the cloth folding against itself
- Full landing pages below the hero (see the Landing Pages series)
- Centered copy layouts
About this skill
A hero section visitors can touch. Your poster is printed on a cotton cloth pinned to a washing line with wooden pegs, under an open sky with drifting clouds. Hover and a fingertip dents the cloth; press and drag to pull it anywhere, fold a corner over the line, then let go and it swings back and settles. It is a real cloth simulation, not a video, and works with a finger on phones. Your agent prints your name, big words, specs and web address on the cloth in your fonts, sets the sky to midday or dusk, checks the page at four widths and records a 1080p video in which a drawn pointer pulls the cloth.
Example request
Build a Washing Line hero for Paperwind 2, our notes app: light blue midday sky, the cloth printed 'Light enough for the line.' with our release specs, headline 'Notes light enough for the line.', and record a 10-second video for the launch post.
How it works
Your agent
- 1
Collect the brand and the words
Every name, number, claim and date must come from the person.
- 2
Write hero.json
Copy the closer example folder and replace everything:
examples/paperwind/(a notes app, light midday sky, four pegs) orexamples/halden/(a linen brand, dusk sky, three pegs, a squarer cloth). - 3
Build
It lists every problem in
hero.jsonat once (missing fields, text over its limit, a setting out of range, colours that don't contrast, print ink too faint on the cloth) and writes nothing until they're fixed. - 4
Check
It loads the page at 390, 768, 1024 and 1440 px and must say
okat each: nothing wider than the screen or cut off, readable contrast for every line of text against the sky behind it, names on every link and button, one h1. - 5
Look at it, and touch it
The first is the cloth at rest, the second mid-pull (the scripted hand has a corner up), the third the phone.
- 6
Record the video
It steps the hero through 10 seconds at 30 fps at 1920×1080 and writes
out/preview.mp4andout/poster.png(the frame at 3.5 s, mid-pull). - 7
Put it live
As a page: upload
out/index.htmlandout/assets/to any static host (Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, Vercel, GitHub Pages, S3).
- 1
You get
- out/index.html
- out/embed.html
- out/preview.mp4
- out/poster.png
- out/assets/logo.svg

What you need
- Node.js 18 or newer. Nothing to install.
- Chrome, Chromium or Edge, for the checks and the recording (the scripts find it; set
CHROME_PATHif they don't). - ffmpeg, for the video (
brew install ffmpeg, winget install ffmpeg, apt install ffmpeg; or setFFMPEG_PATH). - Internet access when the page is opened: three.js and the fonts load from jsDelivr at pinned versions with integrity hashes. Without it, visitors see the still picture (the same line and cloth, drawn flat) and system fonts; the page still works.
Last checked Oct 30, 2026: the package’s own build and render commands ran and passed.
If something goes wrong
build: fix hero.json firstEach line names the field and what to change; colour problems suggest a colour that works.
The cloth is cut off at the edge
Lower
size, or make the cloth squarer (aspectnearer 1).The big words on the cloth are small
They shrink to fit beside the spec column. Use fewer words, a
\n, or fewer specs and no chart (the words then take the full width).

Is it a video, or can visitors really drag it?
Visitors really drag it. The cloth is a live simulation in the page: a fingertip dents it on hover, and pressing grabs a patch of it that follows the mouse or finger until you let go. The MP4 is a recording of the same page with a scripted pointer, for social posts.
Can I print my own picture or artwork on the cloth?
No. The page draws the print from your words: a name of up to 28 characters, a small line, big words of up to 48, up to 6 spec pairs, a small decorative chart and a web address, in your fonts and colors. The chart bars come from a seed, not from data.
Does it work on phones, and does it block scrolling?
It works with a finger. The page only stops scrolling while a finger holds the cloth, so swiping beside it still scrolls. On phones the line and cloth come first, then the words. With reduced motion visitors get one still frame, and without WebGL an SVG still.
Which agents is Washing Line Hero written for?
Any agent that reads SKILL.md folders, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and OpenCode.
Do I own what I make with it?
Yes. Everything your agent makes with this skill is yours, including for client and commercial work.

Credits and licensesBuilt on mrdoob/three.js
What Lookbk adds on top of mrdoob/three.js (MIT): Lookbk wrote this package: the cloth simulation, the sky shader, the print, the pegs and line, the touch and pointer handling, the scripted recording gesture and the Motion Heroes kit. It loads three.js r180 (MIT) from a pinned CDN with SRI.
