What you get
- A self-contained HTML page with your headline ending in a rolling word
- A paste-in embed of the same section, scoped so it won't touch your styles
- Up to 8 words, each with its own colour, glow, underline and bloom
- A blinking caret, overshoot, motion blur and drum depth you can tune or switch off
- A dot or hairline backdrop drum that turns with the words
- An SVG still picture and a no-script headline that still reads
- A frame-exact 1080p MP4 and poster that loop seamlessly, plus two worked examples
- Open-source licenses for every part it builds on
Good fit
- Products that serve several kinds of customers and want each one to see itself in the headline.
- Agencies, studios and tools that can finish one strong sentence with 3 to 8 different words.
- Launch pages where a big, readable headline should carry the motion instead of an illustration.
Not for
- Headlines where the changing part is longer than a short phrase of 18 characters
- More than 8 alternatives, since the drum takes 3 to 8 words
- Pages that need a product picture or illustration beside the copy
- Scroll-driven storytelling sections
About this skill
A big headline is the picture: its last word sits on a smooth 3D drum and rolls through a list of 3 to 8 words. Each word tips up and away in perspective while the next rises from below, both smeared by a vertical motion blur, then rolls a little past its place and settles back. Every word has its own colour, which also lights a soft glow around the letters, an underline that slides to the word's width and a wide bloom behind the headline, all blending during the roll. A caret blinks after the word while it rests. Behind it, a faint drum of dots or hairlines turns with the words. The words are real text in the headline, so the page reads with the first word without the script, and the loop closes exactly.
Example request
Use the word-carousel-hero skill to build a hero for my website builder Kiteframe: the headline "Websites that work as hard as your bakery" with the last word rolling through florist, barbershop, yoga studio and bike shop, each in its own colour, on a near-black page with a drum of dots, copy centred, and a 12 second loop video.
How it works
Your agent
- 1
Collect the brand
Every claim, price, number and name in the copy must come from the person.
- 2
Write hero.json
Copy the closer example and replace everything:
examples/kiteframe/hero.json(a website builder for local businesses, dark page, copy centred, five shop types in five bright colours over a drum of dots) orexamples/tallow/hero.json(a weekly planning tool, warm paper page, a serif headline on the left, four job titles in deep ink colours over fine hairlines). - 3
Build
It lists every problem in
hero.jsonat once (missing fields, text over its limit, a setting out of range, a word colour that doesn't contrast, with a colour that would) and writes nothing until they're fixed. - 4
Check
It loads the page at 390, 768, 1024 and 1440 px and must say
okat each: nothing wider than the screen or cut off, readable contrast for every line of text (the words on the drum included), names on every link and button, one h1. - 5
Look at it
They save the second word settled, the drum halfway through its first roll (with the default timing), and a phone.
- 6
Record the video
It steps the hero through 12 seconds at 30 fps at 1920×1080, drawing each frame at exactly its time, and writes
out/preview.mp4(H.264, for X, LinkedIn, Product Hunt or a README) andout/poster.png(the frame at 3.2 s). - 7
Put it live
As a page: upload
out/index.htmlandout/assets/to any static host (Cloudflare Pages, Netlify, Vercel, GitHub Pages, S3).
- 1
You get
- out/index.html
- out/embed.html
- out/preview.mp4
- out/poster.png
- out/assets/logo.svg

What you need
- Node.js 18 or newer. Nothing to install.
- Chrome, Chromium or Edge, for the checks and the recording (the scripts find it; set
CHROME_PATHif they don't). - ffmpeg, for the video (
brew install ffmpeg, winget install ffmpeg, apt install ffmpeg; or setFFMPEG_PATH). - At runtime, nothing but CSS 3D transforms and a 2D canvas. Fonts load from jsDelivr (the pinned list) or Google Fonts; without the network the page uses system fonts.

Does the headline still work without the script?
Yes. The rolling word is real text in the headline. Without the script the page shows the headline with your first word, and screen readers and search engines read that same sentence.
How long is one loop?
One loop is every word once: the number of words times hold plus roll. With 5 words, a 1.7 second hold and a 0.7 second roll, that is 12 seconds, and the build prints it for you.
Can I give each word its own colour?
Yes. Each word takes a colour that also tints its glow, its underline and the bloom behind the headline. The build checks every colour reaches 4.5:1 on your background and suggests one that does when it falls short.
Which agents is Word Carousel Hero written for?
Any agent that reads SKILL.md folders, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and OpenCode.
Do I own what I make with it?
Yes. Everything your agent makes with this skill is yours, including for client and commercial work.
