What you get
- A 34 s MP4 at 1080p, every digit roll and landing on the beat
- Four compare pictures: scale (12× last year), ratio (38%), count (a grid of units) and delta (from 46 s to 11 s)
- One poster canvas the camera travels across, ending on the whole poster
- Tabular figures, prefixes and suffixes, checked for length before the render
- An original soundtrack written by code, free to use
- Two made-up example films, a dark fintech review and a cream nonprofit report
- Open-source licenses for every part it builds on
Good fit
- Fintech, SaaS and marketplaces can turn a year in review or an investor update into one film that people watch to the end.
- Nonprofits and research groups can make an annual report number feel real with a scale, a ratio, a grid of units or a before and after.
- Teams posting results on X or LinkedIn get a poster-style film with its own soundtrack from one short brief.
Not for
- Charts of a whole series (see Line Story Film or Data Story: Bars)
- More than four numbers in one film
- Vertical or square social cuts (16:9 only)
About this skill
Three or four headline numbers that you feel, not just read. Each one rolls in on a mechanical odometer at poster size, then a picture made for its kind of number shows what it means: segments stamping out a 12× scale, a half-ring sweeping to 38%, a grid filling one square per unit, or a puck sliding from before to after. The numbers sit as panels on one giant Swiss-grid poster and the camera travels across it, then pulls out to the whole poster before your brand and URL. It comes with its own percussive soundtrack, with a tick for every digit and a hit on every landing.

How it works
Your agent
- 1
Ask for the numbers
Numbers must come from the user's own sources.
- 2
Write the brief
Start from
<skill>/examples/tally/brief.json(four stats, dark) or<skill>/examples/wildfern/brief.json(three stats, paper). - 3
Make the film
It copies
template/intomy-film/, applies the brief (writescues.json,storyboard.jsand the font link), writes the soundtrack tomy-film/assets/music.wavon those cues and rendersmy-film/renders/<brand>-1080p.mp4. - 4
Check before you hand it over
Look at the sheet: each number settled and big, the compare visual large under or beside it, the poster at ~30 s, the end card from 32 s.

You get

What you need
- Node.js 22 or newer and FFmpeg on the PATH.
- HyperFrames through
npx, pinned to the tested version:npx --yes hyperframes@0.8.192. The first render downloads a headless Chrome (npx --yes hyperframes@0.8.192 browser ensureif it says Chrome is missing). - Network access to
fonts.googleapis.comandcdn.jsdelivr.netwhile rendering. If jsDelivr is blocked, setGSAP_FILEto a localgsap.min.js(3.14.2);make-film.mjscopies it into the project. - From the user: the brand name and URL, a title line, 3 or 4 numbers with one short label each, what each number is compared with, and three colours.
Last checked Nov 2, 2026: the package’s own build and render commands ran and passed.
If something goes wrong
apply-brief stops with a list of problems.
Each line names the field and the limit. The usual ones: a figure over 9 characters (use
M/kwith a smaller value), ascaleunder 1.5× (usedelta), acountwith more than 150 squares (raisecompare.unit).The render stops with "Chrome is missing".
Run
npx --yes hyperframes@0.8.192 browser ensureonce, then render again.Plain fonts, or the render stops before the first frame.
The render could not reach
fonts.googleapis.comorcdn.jsdelivr.net. Allow them, or setGSAP_FILE=/path/to/gsap.min.js(3.14.2) for GSAP.

Write a reviewFAQ
What kinds of numbers does it handle?
Each stat picks one compare picture: scale against a reference value (12× last year), ratio as part of a whole (38%), count as a grid of units, or delta from one value to another (46 s down to 11 s). Prefixes and suffixes like $, %, B or s are set beside the digits.
How many numbers fit in one film?
Three or four. With three, each panel gets a longer hold with an extra beat for its headline and underline; the film is 34 s either way.
Can I use my own colours and fonts?
Yes. The brief takes a ground, ink and accent colour and a type style, and the panels, poster and end card follow them. The two examples show a dark navy and mint review and a cream, forest and orange report.
Which agents is Big Number Film written for?
Any agent that reads SKILL.md folders, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and OpenCode.
Do I own what I make with it?
Yes. Everything your agent makes with this skill is yours, including for client and commercial work.
