What you get
- A 1080×1920 MP4 catalogue reel with its own beat-synced music, or 1080×1080 or 1920×1080 with their own layouts
- An original soundtrack with a sound on every pull, flip and the drop band, synthesised on your machine, with nothing to license
- A wall of 6 to 20 covers, yours or designed in six typographic layouts that always set whole words
- Featured covers that turn over to printed backs with title, author and a hook or rating
- An end card with your mark, name, button and address on the final hit
- A pasteable PROMPT.md for Claude Code or Codex
- Open-source licenses for every part it builds on
Good fit
- A small press or label announcing its new releases or bestsellers.
- A magazine or newsletter showing a year of issues in one post.
- A designer or studio showing a portfolio of covers as a reel.
Not for
- Long blurbs: each back holds a title, an author and one line
- More than 20 covers on the wall
- Reading every cover: only the featured ones turn over
- Vocals or a licensed hit song, since the music is synthesised
About this skill
A beat-cut catalogue reel for a press, a label, a magazine or a portfolio, with its own original soundtrack. Rows of covers scroll as marquees in alternating directions on a tilted wall in 3D perspective, speeding into the beat. On each beat one cover pulls out of the wall, leaving its slot dark, and turns over past its spine to a printed back with title, author and a one-line hook or a star rating. On the drop the camera pushes through the wall and a "New this month" or "Bestsellers" band slams in, and the imprint's mark, name and button land on the final hit. Use your own cover images or let it design typographic covers in six layouts.
Example request
Make a reel of our autumn list: all twelve covers on a moving wall, four featured books turning over to their title, author and one line, a Bestsellers band on the drop, ending on our press name and the list link.
How it works
Your agent
- 1
Make the project
- 2
Get the catalogue
Ask the person for 6 to 20 covers (8 to 14 look best; the wall repeats them. With 8 or more, neighbouring rows take alternate halves of the list, so a cover never sits next to itself, and each copy leans and catches the light a little differently) and which 3 to 5 to feature.
- 3
Pick the look
Every colour must read at 4.5:1 with
paperorink;apply-briefchecks this. - 4
Write the brief
Create
brief.jsonin the project. - 5
Apply the brief
It checks the whole brief and lists every problem at once with the fix: a missing title, too many or too few featured covers, a featured cover with nothing for its back, a colour the text can't be read on, a missing image, a headline too long for the format, a music setting out of range.
- 6
Check
"ok": truemeans it can render. - 7
Look before you render
Run the
snapshotcommandapply-briefprinted: the opening, each card's back, the slam and the end card. - 8
Render
It runs the layout gate, renders with the pinned HyperFrames, checks the track and its stems with
scripts/music/check.mjs(A1 to A11), muxes it under the film with a true-peak limiter at -1 dBTP, and checks the MP4. - 9
Hand it off
Give the person the MP4 and two stills from
snapshots/: the opening and one card's back.

What you need
- Node.js 22 or newer and FFmpeg (with
ffprobe) on the PATH. FFmpeg also checks and muxes the music. - HyperFrames runs through
npx, pinned:npx --yes hyperframes@0.8.192. The first render downloads a headless Chrome. Ifrendersays Chrome is missing, runnpx --yes hyperframes@0.8.192 browser ensureonce. - Network access to
fonts.googleapis.com(Archivo, Barlow Condensed, Fraunces, JetBrains Mono) andcdn.jsdelivr.net(GSAP). See Troubleshooting if either is blocked.
Last checked Nov 2, 2026: the package’s own build and render commands ran and passed.
If something goes wrong
Render hangs, then shows a static frame, or reports
sub_timeline_script_failure.GSAP didn't load. If
cdn.jsdelivr.netis blocked, runnpm i gsap@3.14.2in the project, copynode_modules/gsap/dist/gsap.min.jstoassets/vendor/, and point the<script src>inindex.htmlat it.Designed covers show a fallback font.
fonts.googleapis.comwas unreachable. HyperFrames caches the fonts after one successful fetch.A supplied cover is cropped badly.
Images are cropped to the catalogue's shape from the centre. Crop it yourself first to 2:3, 1:1 or 3:4.

Do I need cover images?
No. Give each title, author and colour and it designs typographic covers in six layouts that always set whole words. Your own cover images work too, cropped to 2:3, 1:1 or 3:4.
How many covers can it show?
The wall holds 6 to 20 covers, and 3 to 5 of them turn over to show their title, author and a one-line hook or star rating.
How long is the reel?
Between 12 and 22 s, depending on how many covers you feature and the tempo of the soundtrack, with the drop band on the music's drop and your name on its final hit.
Which agents is Cover Marquee Reel written for?
Any agent that reads SKILL.md folders, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and OpenCode.
Do I own what I make with it?
Yes. Everything your agent makes with this skill is yours, including for client and commercial work.
