What you get
- Three pages in your words, colours and Google Fonts: sign in, sign up and onboarding, sharing one theme and one film
- Validation that waits until a field is left, clears as soon as it is right, and shakes the pane on a bad submit
- A password meter with four bars and four rules, show/hide, social buttons, and a busy and done button
- Three onboarding steps (fields, one choice, several choices) with Back, a progress rail and a summary at the end
- A phone layout with the film on top and the glass rising as a sheet, and a reduced-motion version that holds the poster
- Checks at 390, 768, 1024 and 1440 px in every state, with contrast measured on the real film behind the glass
- A 1080p video of a typed session across the pages, rendered frame by frame
- Open-source licenses for every part it builds on
Good fit
- Travel, hospitality and consumer apps can put the feeling of the product behind the form, like Couchette's smoked-glass side sheet whose edge bends the rainy night-train window and its lamp.
- B2B and data tools stay calm and exact, like Gustline: a milk-glass pane over a turbine in morning fog, SAML SSO and a three-question setup.
- Teams replacing a plain auth screen who want the basics right: timely errors, a strength meter, labels, focus rings and AA contrast at every width.
Not for
- The sign-in itself: the pages validate and post to your endpoints, your backend does the rest
- More or fewer than three onboarding steps, or a field type other than text and select
- Password reset, two-factor or email-confirmation screens
- Sound: the film is muted and the recording is silent
About this skill
The front door of a product as three pages over a full-screen looping film: sign in, sign up, and a three-step onboarding that ends on a summary of the answers. The form sits on a pane of frosted glass that blurs and tints the footage under it so every word reads, while the pane's edge bends the film like thick glass (in Chrome and Edge, through a displacement map made for the pane's size and corners). Fields are checked as people leave them and clear the moment they are fixed; the new password fills a four-bar meter as its four rules tick off; the button goes busy, then done. Onboarding steps slide on while the film pushes in a little further each time. Three compositions: the pane floating beside the headline, docked full height as a side sheet whose free edge bends the film, or centred over the film's subject with the headline set as a vertical slate. Two tones: smoked glass with a ticket-stub notch, or milk glass with an instrument ruler. Your agent writes one page.json; the build checks every length and writes the three pages, and the check measures contrast against a screenshot of the real film behind the glass, at four widths and in every state.
Example request
Make our sign-in, sign-up and onboarding pages with Auth over Footage: our drone film behind them, our colours and fonts, Google and Microsoft sign-in, and onboarding that asks for the team name, their role and which alerts they want.
How it works
Your agent
- 1
Collect the product
Every number and claim in the copy must come from the person or their site.
- 2
Write page.json
Copy
<skill>/examples/couchette/page.json(dark, serif, ticket, a night train) or<skill>/examples/gustline/page.json(light, wide grotesk, ticks, wind turbines in fog) and replace every value. - 3
Build
Writes
out/signin.html,out/signup.html,out/onboarding.html,out/index.html(the sign-in page) and copies the film toout/footage/. - 4
Check
Opens all three pages at 390, 768, 1024 and 1440 px and with reduced motion, in every state (at rest, with validation errors, filled in, each onboarding step, the summary).
- 5
Look at it
Open the address it prints.
- 6
Record a video (optional)
Types a whole session, frame by frame: sign-up (the email slip shown, the meter climbing, show password, a submit too soon that shakes the pane, the slip fixed, the busy button), then the three onboarding steps and the summary, with a pointer that moves, clicks and then drifts off to the side so it never sits on a label.
- 7
Hand it over
The three pages link to each other by file name, so serve them from one folder (
/auth/signin.html…) or rename them along with the links.
- 1
You get
- out/signin.html
- out/signup.html
- out/onboarding.html
- out/index.html
- out/preview.mp4
- out/poster.png

What you need
- Node.js 18 or newer. Nothing to install.
- A looping film: a landscape
.mp4under 4 MB (1080p or 720p, no sound needed) and a poster frame (.webp/.jpg). Optionally a portrait cut and its poster for phones. Pick footage with calm areas: the headline sits on one side, the glass on the other. - Chrome, Chromium or Edge for the check and the video (found automatically; set
CHROME_PATHotherwise). - ffmpeg, only for the video (
brew install ffmpeg, winget install ffmpeg, apt install ffmpeg; or setFFMPEG_PATH).
Last checked Nov 2, 2026: the package’s own build and render commands ran and passed.
If something goes wrong
A contrast failure on the story text
The film is too bright there. Darken
bg(it's the scrim colour), choose a calmerfilm.focus, or a calmer film.A contrast failure on the glass
Raise
blur, or movetintfurther from the film's colours (darker for dark tone, paler for light)."cut off in its box" on a meta reading or caption
Shorten it.

Can I use my own video?
Yes. Put a landscape mp4 under 4 MB and a poster next to page.json (a portrait cut for phones is optional). The check measures every word against the real film behind it, and tells you to darken the scrim or the glass if a frame is too bright.
Does it actually sign people in?
It validates and then posts the form to the endpoints you give (email, password, remember; name, email, password, terms). Social buttons link to your auth routes. Left at #, the pages walk on by themselves as a demo.
What about people who turn off motion?
With reduced motion the film holds its poster, nothing slides or shakes, and steps and messages swap at once. A pause button sits under the film for everyone else, and the choice is remembered.
Which agents is Auth over Footage written for?
Any agent that reads SKILL.md folders, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and OpenCode.
Do I own what I make with it?
Yes. Everything your agent makes with this skill is yours, including for client and commercial work.
