What you get
- A browser deck where shared words glide between slides and new words rise, slide or scale in one by one
- Eight layouts: title, statement, swap, number, chapter, list, quote and closing
- Headlines set as large as they fit, a figure that counts up, and a list that builds and pushes up
- Two to four colour fields that wipe across between slides, with contrast checked on each
- A PowerPoint file with Morph set to Words, every text box named by role and editable, with speaker notes
- A PDF, and two example talks: a design conference talk and a company kickoff
- Open-source licenses for every part it builds on
Good fit
- Speakers giving a conference talk get a deck that moves like a title sequence without a motion designer.
- Founders and leaders running an all-hands or kickoff can land a few big lines and one number that counts up.
- Teams who present in PowerPoint get Morph set to Words already wired, so new slides they add move too.
Not for
- Data-heavy decks with charts (see Signal Deck)
- Decks built around product photos or footage (see Morph Deck or Cinema Deck)
- Dense slides with paragraphs: every slide is one short idea set huge
About this skill
A talk made of huge type on flat colour fields, one idea a slide. Between slides the words themselves move: a word on both slides glides to its new place and size, the others roll out of their line, new ones rise in one by one, a big figure counts up and the next colour wipes across. A swap slide keeps its line and changes one word; a list builds item by item. Your agent builds it from your talk notes, checks every slide for fit, glyph collisions and contrast, and exports a PowerPoint file that moves word by word with PowerPoint's own Morph, every text box editable.
Example request
Make a Kinetic Type Deck for my 20-minute conference talk from talk.md: one idea per slide, a swap slide for our three principles, the key number counting up, a list that builds, speaker notes, then export the PDF and a PPTX with Morph.
How it works
Your agent
- 1
Cut the talk into slides
One idea a slide, in as few words as it can take: big type only works short.
- 2
Write
deck.jsonTop level:
titleandorgare required;langdefaults toen. - 3
Build
It checks every slide and the theme's contrast, lists every problem at once, then writes
out/index.htmland says how many slides the file unfolded into. - 4
Check it and look at every slide
Errors (exit code 1): type that doesn't fit its box even small, text running off the slide, two blocks whose glyphs touch (measured on the real ascenders and descenders of the face, not its line box) and text below contrast on its field.
- 5
Export the PDF
It writes
out/index.pdf, one 1920×1080 page per slide, and checks the page count. - 6
Export the PowerPoint file (optional)
It writes
out/index.pptxwith Morph (Words) on every slide after the first. - 7
Hand it off
Give the person
out/index.htmlto present in the browser, index.pdfto send, andindex.pptxto present or edit in PowerPoint.
- 1
You get
- out/index.html
- out/shots/slide-01.png
- out/index.pdf
- out/index.pptx

What you need
- Node.js 18 or newer.
- Chrome, Chromium or Edge installed, for the checks, the PDF and the PPTX. Set
CHROME_PATHif the scripts don't find it. - For the PPTX only:
npm i pptxgenjs@4.0.1in the folder you run the export from. - Internet access when the deck is opened, checked or exported, for the Google Fonts stylesheet.
- The talk itself: what each slide says, in as few words as it can. No pictures needed.
Last checked Nov 2, 2026: the package’s own build and render commands ran and passed.
If something goes wrong
build: fix deck.json firstEach line names the slide, the field and the limit. Big type needs short text: cut words rather than work around limits.
theme.fields[2].ink … reaches 3.9:1That ink is too close to its ground. Darken or lighten one of them until it reaches 4.5:1.
check-deck says a headline only fits at 120 px
It is too long for big type. Split it into two slides, or turn it into a
swap.

Write a reviewFAQ
Does the PowerPoint file move like the browser deck?
Yes. Every slide after the first has PowerPoint's Morph transition set to Words, and each text box is named by its role, so Morph pairs the headline on one slide with the next and glides the words they share. It plays in PowerPoint 2019, 2021, 2024 and Microsoft 365; older versions and Keynote fade instead.
How does the swap slide work?
You give the words that stay and 2 to 5 words that change. The build makes one slide per word and sets them all at the same size, so the line holds still while the word rolls out and the next rises in.
Can I use my own fonts and colours?
Yes. Set 2 to 4 colour fields and any Google Fonts display face, in capitals if you like. The build checks that the ink reaches 4.5:1 and the accent 3:1 on each field, and the check measures the face's real glyphs so tall capitals never collide.
Which agents is Kinetic Type Deck written for?
Any agent that reads SKILL.md folders, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Gemini CLI and OpenCode.
Do I own what I make with it?
Yes. Everything your agent makes with this skill is yours, including for client and commercial work.
