The short answer

  1. Claude Motion is a template in Claude that turns your content into a short animation. Claude writes the animation as code that moves text, charts, shapes and images, and you export it as an MP4.
  2. Anthropic’s help article, dated 8 October 2026, says it is in beta on Team and Enterprise plans. It lists no other plan, and the plan table in the artifacts article shows the Motion template under Team and Enterprise only.
  3. On another plan, or in another agent, a video skill in Claude Code, Codex or Cursor makes the same kind of code-drawn motion graphics and renders the MP4 on your own machine.

Claude Motion is one of the artifact templates in Claude. Anthropic’s help article, dated 8 October 2026, describes an animation as “an artifact made from the Motion template”, and says “Claude builds it from your prompt as code that animates the text, charts, shapes, and images in it, and it plays like a short video.” That last part is the important one: Claude Motion is motion graphics written as code, not a video model.

What Claude Motion makes

The help article gives three examples of what it is for: an explainer for an all-hands meeting, an animated chart for a board deck and a product walkthrough for customer onboarding. Because each animation is code, you can change one word, number or timing and the rest stays as it was.

  • Start one by asking for an animation in any chat, by choosing Output and then Motion in the message box, or by picking a Motion template in the Artifacts tab.
  • Give it your material. The article suggests saying who will watch, where it will play and roughly how long it should be, and attaching the report, data or images it should use.
  • Edit it by asking in the chat, such as “Slow down the second scene”, or directly in the editor.
  • Export it with Export and then MP4. Animations start private to you; Share gives other people access.

Which plans have Claude Motion

Claude Motion by plan, from Anthropic’s help articles (8 October 2026)
PlanClaude MotionWhat the article says
TeamYes: BetaOn by default.
EnterpriseYes: BetaOff until an owner turns it on in Organization settings > Artifacts. Owners can limit it to groups with custom roles.
Free, Pro, Max and UltraNo: Not listedThe artifacts article lists the Docs, Slides and Design templates for these plans, and Dashboards in beta on the paid ones, but not Motion.

Claude Motion counts toward your plan’s usage limits, like the rest of your work with Claude, and the article notes that longer or more complex animations use more of your limit than a typical message.

What Claude Motion can’t do

  • Realistic footage or people. In Anthropic’s words: “Claude Motion doesn’t use a video generation model, so it doesn’t create realistic footage or people.” It animates text, charts, shapes and the images you give it.
  • Run outside Claude’s artifacts. The artifacts article lists what Claude Code can make as an artifact: pages from a session, designs and docs. Motion is not on that list.
  • Plans outside Team and Enterprise. As of the article’s date, Free, Pro, Max and Ultra are not listed.

The same kind of motion graphics in Claude Code, Codex or Cursor

The idea behind Claude Motion, an animation that is code rather than generated pixels, is not tied to the template. A coding agent can write a scene in HTML and CSS with an animation timeline, and a renderer such as HyperFrames steps through it frame by frame in a headless Chrome and writes an MP4 with FFmpeg. Text stays sharp and spelled right, because no model draws it.

Writing every scene from a blank page takes many rounds. A video skill skips that: it ships the design, the timing and the checks, and your agent fills in your words, numbers or screens. Lookbk’s video skills work this way in Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and other agents that read SKILL.md folders, and the render runs on your machine.

  1. Step 1: Install a free video skill

Kinetic Title Drop is free and renders a six-second 1080p title from three short lines. Paste the install prompt from its page into your agent, or run:

    Terminal
    curl -fsSL https://lookbk.dev/cli.js | node - add kinetic-title-drop
  2. Step 2: Ask for the video in plain words

    Claude Code
Make a 6-second kinetic title drop that says "Q3 / in / motion." in our brand blue, 1080p, for the all-hands.
  3. Step 3: Let it check, then render

The skill fills in a brief, checks the layout before it renders and writes the MP4 to your project folder. You need Node.js 22 or newer and FFmpeg; HyperFrames downloads a headless Chrome on its first render. How to make videos with Claude Code covers the setup and the fixes.

Use Claude Motion if…

  • You are on a Team or Enterprise plan and it is turned on.
  • You want a quick explainer or chart from a report you already have in Claude.
  • You want to share it as a link inside your organization.

Use a video skill if…

  • You are on another plan, or work in Codex or Cursor.
  • You want a finished look you can see before you start, the same every time.
  • You want the MP4 and its source files on your own machine.

Common questions

Is Claude Motion available on the Pro or Max plan?
Anthropic’s help article, dated 8 October 2026, lists Claude Motion as a beta on Team and Enterprise plans and names no other plan. The plan table in the artifacts article shows the Motion template under Team and Enterprise only.
Does Claude Motion use a video generation model?
No. In Anthropic’s words, “Claude Motion doesn’t use a video generation model, so it doesn’t create realistic footage or people.” It builds each animation as code that animates text, charts, shapes and images.
How do I export a Claude Motion animation?
Open the animation, click Export and choose MP4. Animations start private to you; open one and click Share to give other people access.
How do I turn on Claude Motion for an Enterprise organization?
An Owner or Primary Owner turns it on in Organization settings > Artifacts. On Enterprise plans, owners can also limit it to specific groups with custom roles. On Team plans it is on by default.
Does Claude Motion count toward usage limits?
Yes. It counts toward your plan’s usage limits, and longer or more complex animations use more of your limit than a typical message.
Can I make the same kind of animation in Claude Code?
Yes, with a video skill. Your agent writes the scenes as HTML and CSS, and HyperFrames renders them to MP4 on your machine. Lookbk’s video skills call no AI model and ask for no API key.
