Skills for Kiro
49 skills
Every Lookbook skill is a plain SKILL.md folder, the format Kiro’s docs describe. Lookbook has not recorded a run in Kiro, so check a skill’s own requirements on its page.
How to install a skill in Kiro
Where the skill lives
A skill is one folder with a SKILL.md inside. Kiro reads the folders below, as its own docs describe them.
- Every project
~/.kiro/skills/- One project
.kiro/skills/
Where the skill lives
- ~/.kiro/skills/
- kinetic-title-drop/
- SKILL.md
- scripts/
- template/
- your-project/
- .kiro/skills/
- kinetic-title-drop/
- SKILL.md
- scripts/
- template/
- Custom agents do not load skills by default. Add them to the agent’s resources field with the skill:// URI scheme. Source
- The skill’s name must match its folder name. Global skills in ~/.kiro/skills are not available on Kiro Web or Mobile. Source
- When a workspace skill and a global skill share a name, the workspace one wins. Source
Install routes
Pick one. Lookbook has not recorded a run in Kiro, so each route is marked by what Kiro’s docs say it reads.
- Recommended
Download the ZIP
- 1Open a skill’s page and choose Download ZIP.
- 2Unzip it into the folder below.
- 3Ask Kiro to use the skill.
~/.kiro/skills/ - Also works
Install in one project
- 1Open the project’s folder in a terminal or file manager.
- 2Unzip the skill into the folder below, inside the project.
- 3Open the project in Kiro.
.kiro/skills/ - Not yet
Paste the install prompt
The installer writes ~/.agents/skills/ and ~/.claude/skills. Kiro’s docs list neither as a skills folder, so it would not see the skill.
What are Kiro skills?
A skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file: a name, a description and the steps to follow, plus any scripts or templates the job needs. At startup Kiro loads only each skill’s name and description. When a request matches, it loads the full instructions.
Lookbook skills are built this way. Each one turns a request such as “make a launch film” or “build a landing page” into steps Kiro can follow, and ships the files they need. You put one in ~/.kiro/skills/ and Kiro can use it.

Ask: “Build a Frosted Glass hero for our site with our logo, colours and headline, and record a 1080p video of it for the launch post.”
Kiro skills vs Steering files
Both shape what Kiro does. This is how Kiro’s own docs set them apart.
| Topic | A skill | Steering files |
|---|---|---|
| Role | Reusable workflows you want to share or import from others | Kiro-specific context for project standards and conventions |
| Loads | On demand, and can include scripts | Always, auto, fileMatch or manual modes |
| Lives in | .kiro/skills/ or ~/.kiro/skills/ | .kiro/steering/ or ~/.kiro/steering/ |
Questions about Kiro skills
Where does Kiro keep its skills?
Kiro’s docs name ~/.kiro/skills/ for every project, and .kiro/skills/ inside one project.
How do I add a Lookbook skill to Kiro?
Download the ZIP from the skill’s page and unzip it into ~/.kiro/skills/. The Lookbook installer writes ~/.agents/skills/ and ~/.claude/skills, which Kiro’s docs do not list.
Does Kiro read the same skill folders as other agents?
Kiro reads ~/.kiro/skills/. Its docs do not list ~/.agents/skills/, so a skill in that shared folder is not seen.
Can I upload a ZIP to Kiro?
On Kiro Web, yes: Agent Config > Skills > Add skill takes a zip archive. In the IDE you import a skill from GitHub or a local folder instead.
Have Lookbook’s skills been tested in Kiro?
Lookbook has not recorded a run in Kiro. The skills follow the open SKILL.md format, which Kiro’s docs say it reads. Whether a skill’s own scripts run depends on the tools on your machine, listed on each skill page under What you need.
The facts about Kiro come from its own documentation. Read it here.
Skills for every agent you use
The same SKILL.md folder reaches every agent below that reads it. Each page shows where that agent looks.
